Batman: Arkham Knight Benchmarks GTX 670 SLI

Real Time Benchmarks

If you are playing this title on consoles then you are probably enjoying the game. If you are attempting to play this on PC then 9 times out of 10 you are having issues. Warner Bros. & Rocksteady has pulled the game from Steam to address serious performance issues across a wide number of GPU models for both AMD and Nvidia. On Steam there are literally thousands of down votes along with angry comments from PC gamers. To make matters worse there are a ton of settings missing and graphical content missing from the PC version. Rocksteady has since released one of many patches. The game remains absent from Steam, however, you can still purchase the $39.99 Season Pass.

Fortunately there are plenty of gamers who have tips that will help the game run smoothly. I have applied these fixes [that should've been fixed by the outsourced developers before release] to the ini files and so far they have worked perfectly. Due to my VRAM limitation I've decided to benchmark the game @ 1440p with no Nvidia GameWorks and 1080p with Nvidia Gameworks. Everything else will be 100% maxed. Well at least I'll max what Rocksteady\Iron Galaxy allows me to. Nvidia latest drivers crashes so I feel back to 353.06 graphic drivers.

I'm running my GTX 670 2GBs at reference stocks [915 \ 980 Boost]. The latest Nvidia drivers from late 2014 up until this point doesn't play well with my Kepler cards.

100% Maxed + Nvidia GameWorks Enabled

GTX 670 2GB 2-Way SLI @ 915Mhz [Boost: 980Mhz] [353.06 Drivers]
Xeon X5660 @ 4.6Ghz
RAM: DDR3-1600Mhz
Gameplay Duration: 52 minutes 8 seconds
Captured 115,304  frames
FPS Avg: 37fps
FPS Max: 84fps
FPS Min: 2fps
FPS Min Caliber ™: 13fps
Frame time Avg: 27.1ms

As you can see from the frame time and the frame rate I have no problems enjoying the game. However, I'm still waiting for Rocksteady\Iron Galaxy to fix the remaining issues. At the moment the game has a few stuttering problem that still needs to be worked out. Tweaking the .ini files has definitely improved my expereience. Althought my frame time averages 27.1ms it can dip as low as 74.2ms and once I saw it spike as high as 206ms. Yikes! 33+ms usually only happens during intense scenes and when Nvidia GameWorks kicks in during Batmobile rides. Overall input was on point and I had little to no issues with movement in the game. I will be testing 1440p with no Nvidia GameWorks soon. Oh and for those who care about CPU temps, my Xeon X5660 only average 36c and the highest temp was 53c. My average vCore @ 4.6Ghz was 1.27v while playing this game at 1080p. Now if only Rocksteady can release a stable version. This game is really good.

Maxed with NO Nvidia Gameworks Disabled

GTX 670 2GB 2-Way SLI @ 915Mhz [Boost: 980Mhz] [353.06 Drivers]
Xeon X5660 @ 4.6Ghz
RAM: DDR3-1600Mhz
Gameplay Duration: 51 minutes 47 seconds
Captured 134,029 frames
FPS Avg: 43fps
FPS Max: 79fps
FPS Min: 16fps
FPS Min Caliber ™: 28fps
Frame time Avg: 23.2ms

Overall the numbers look roughly the same, but that doesn't tell the complete picture. There are a few things to note here. With Nvidia Gameworks disabled I was able to render 18,1725 more frames and the frame time was lower. This lead to much better experience. During intense moments the frame time could get as high as 35.5ms and the highest it went was 63.7ms. This much better than what I got above with Nvidia Gameworks. This was much better experience. I really hope Rocksteady can fix the stutter issues so that Gameworks perform better. Without Gameworks you'll have little problems if you have applied the .ini file tweaks and downloaded the patch.

GTX 670 2GB 2-Way SLI @ 915Mhz [Boost: 980Mhz] [353.06 Drivers]
Xeon X5660 @ 4.6Ghz
RAM: DDR3-1600Mhz
Gameplay Duration: 24 minutes 42 seconds
Captured 40,317 frames
FPS Avg: 27fps
FPS Max: 55fps
FPS Min: 9fps
FPS Min Caliber ™: 17fps
Frame time Avg: 36.8ms

Playing with at 2560x1440 makes this game looks great. The graphics look very nice. Some textures need to be fixed, but a more patches are on the way. Overall the game looks and plays good. Nearly 30fps is perfectly fine with me. I'm hoping for more when the game has been fixed and placed back on Steam. Playing at 1440p was fine with no input lag. The game was pretty smooth with no slow downs. Disabling Gameworks really makes the game much more playable. The GTX 670 in SLI at stock still stand their ground in 2015. No complaints here.
